Relationships 101: Why Does My Co-Worker Hate Me?

August 27, 2010 - 1:00am - Jennifer Tardy

ImageHave you been tasked to work with someone who makes your life miserable although you've done absolutely nothing wrong? Do you come to work in a good mood, but being in the presence of this one co-worker seems to drain all of your energy, immediately? Well this blog is JUST for you. Here's one surprising insight and a whole lot of tips to mediate this drama so that you can get back to working together in no time.
Surprising Insight: How your co-worker treats you (i.e. speaks to you, acts around you, behaves toward you) has more to do with them that it has ever had to do with you.

You Probably Don't Miss Him. You Miss Who You Thought He Was.

ImageBreak-ups are one of life’s toughest challenges. Disconnecting yourself from someone you’ve loved, the plans you’ve made, and the life you’ve created doesn’t get any easier, even when you get older. But something that I’m noticing is that there’s a trend occurring. The more I’ve been able to talk one on one with women who are dealing in heartache and confusion. Many of them are holding on to something very similar—an image of their now ex.
Now, what do I mean by an image?
When you walk away from a relationship, I’m sure you agree that no one can take that deep memory of your former love away from you, right?

Never Miss Your Message For Fear of the Messenger!

Skepticism is a great way of guarding yourself. You know what I’m talking about when I say skepticism, right? I mean your disbelief, doubting, and/or cynicism of someone or something. Somewhere in our environment someone taught us that not everyone should be trusted. To an extent, this makes sense with this world that we now live in. You know…the con artists, fakes, manipulators, and deceivers? Being taught not to naively believe everything and everyone was for our own good. But, when did ‘not everyone should be trusted’ turn into ‘no one should be trusted’?

Realistically, Sex & the City is No Different than Sex in the Suburbs!!

June 4, 2010 - 1:00am - Jennifer Tardy
The new hot release of Sex and the City 2 leaves me with two key thoughts. First, I clearly don’t make enough money! And second, sex in the city is clearly no different than sex in the suburbs…or anywhere else in the U.S. for that matter. Every one is going through it and this movie confirms it.
Appreciate it or not, we are all judged everywhere, with everything we do, and every decision we make. Society has created this box and if you and your lifestyle decisions do not fit into this box, then you are instantly judged by others from the outside looking in. The twists and turns that the main characters, Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda all experienced were very closely related to what many women all across the U.S. experience.

We’re Learning that "What Chili Wants" Isn’t Necessarily What She Needs!

May 25, 2010 - 1:00am - Jennifer Tardy

I’m in the midst of a much needed vacation this week! This gives me so much time to catch up on things that I’ve been missing, like my reading, writing/blogging, and of course—Reality TV. So, as I am perusing through channels yesterday I stumble across a marathon of VH1’s What Chili Wants. If you’ve never seen this reality show, allow me get you up to speed. NYC bred, former columnist/blogger now turned Matchmaker, Tionna Smalls works to find TLC group member and superstar, Chili, the man of her dreams in the reality TV show, What Chili Wants.

Words I Live By

“I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

To do what I’m supposed to do…

And learn what I’m supposed to learn,

In order to be who I’m supposed to be…

And in the end…what God has for me,

Will be precisely what it’s supposed to be…

Just for me.”
