Intimidat(ING) – Authoring Your Own Business

March 7, 2010 - 10:37pm - Jennifer Tardy
Doing things on your own sometimes can be a bit intimidating. For so long, anything I’ve done in business has either been taught to me in school or directed for me at work. But with my most passionate quest in writing (and forming a business of it), I’m doing this on my own. I’m making my own way, my own mistakes, my own successes…my own memories, but I am doing it. It’s a tough road, but I keep taking steps forward.

Frustrat(ING) - But Staying Focused

February 13, 2010 - 7:20pm - Jennifer Tardy
Frustrat(ing) describes the feeling of being so close to the end of a first draft of a book and feeling writer’s block—or maybe writer’s exhaustion. I’m dealing with a little frustration right now because most of my thoughts are now on paper and I’m wondering if this is anything more than 75 pages of single spaced lines of my scattered thoughts—or do I actually have a point. I went through the same thing with my first book and maybe this is simply my trigger that it’s time to pass my draft on to my editor so that she can smooth over my thoughts. God bless editors.
I’m in a good place right now. I feel inspired.

Relax(ING) - My Weekend As An Author

February 8, 2010 - 1:09pm - Jennifer Tardy

Relax(ING) or, the lack thereof. When you are trying to write a book and simultaneously start a publishing company, there is barely time to relax. Weekends, although precious and much needed, are prime opportunities to complete tasks for TardySmith Publishing or complete my first draft for my second volume within my FT, bnl collection. If I could spend an entire day closed off to the world to get things done, I probably would, but I have other priorities, especially including my prime time with my boyfriend. So, this past weekend:

Words I Live By

“I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

To do what I’m supposed to do…

And learn what I’m supposed to learn,

In order to be who I’m supposed to be…

And in the end…what God has for me,

Will be precisely what it’s supposed to be…

Just for me.”
