How does commitment feel?
Submitted by Jennifer Tardy on December 14, 2009 - 1:40pmWhat does it feel like to be soulfully committed to someone? What does it really feel like to have something good, I mean really good? I am of the opinion that commitment is being able to know...
…that home is wherever we are. It’s being able to wake up the next morning and know that he is there or he will be there soon. It's the sense of peace that comes from consistent loyalty and dependability. It’s being able to always find your way home; being able to argue and have your space, but come back to apologize later, even if it is tomorrow. Being committed to your relationship is such an overwhelming feeling of achievement. Being able to look at him and say, you’ll always get the best of my love...and mean it.
What is it that you know? How does your relationship make you feel? What feeling do you know so well?
Is it the feeling that if you ask him one more question then everything you’ve ever feared will surface? Is it the feeling that his insinuations about you not being the one are becoming stronger and stronger every time you talk about your future together? Is it the feeling that you know that you know that this isn’t going to work in the long run? This is not the way you should feel when you are in a relationship and don’t let anyone tell you any differently. This isn’t commitment…and it’s painful. I don't wish that on anyone…but remember – it’s your choice.
