Letters to My Girlfriends: Day 361: Certain Things Cannot Be Rushed...

As you know, there are times where I write to you on the same morning I deliver a letter to you. Other times, I write a letter of inspiration the night before. I do this to balance my time; however, I can remember a few times where I've either been pressed for time, or I've been very tired and should have been resting at night. In either circumstance, I've caught myself attempting to rush through the finish of a letter just so I could get one out to you. But I couldn't. I knew that you would see right through the rushed inspiration. It would not benefit either me or you and so I would begin to become a little more focused and take my time (regardless of the time) to complete a letter to you, Girlfriends. After all, you deserve it. And in writing to you everyday this year, I soon realized that in addition to the inspiration we share, there are certain other things in life that should never be rushed.
You cannot rush love. Real love takes time, maturity, patience, understanding, and most importantly...effort from both partners. The feeling of love intensifies at times and weakens at other times. It takes a deep connection to know that real love never goes away and to be aware of its connection. You cannot rush forgiveness. In order to have authentic forgiveness, you must have time. You may even need to have space. You cannot make someone forgive when they are not yet ready. It wouldn't be sincere. You cannot rush healing. You can act like you are okay, but sincere healing happens over time. It happens in time. It happens with time. You cannot rush discovery. You become aware of things in your very own time. Your lessons are learned when they are meant to be learned. When you are ready, you will discover who you are, what your truth is, your passion, and what journey you are on in this life.
Not everything has be done or decided today...or tomorrow, Girlfriends. Don't let anyone try and convince you otherwise. Stay optimistic. Keep your sights set on what you wish your life to be and keep making decisions toward that lifestyle. In the meantime, simply enjoy your journey to your goal until it is reached. Getting where you want to be will come in time. You do not have to rush anything. Just trust the process and allow the natural flow of life to take care of you.
